UP Govt has decided to unbundle and privatise Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd a Discom of UP. Presentation for unbundling and privatisation was done by Chairman UP Power Corporation who is ACS Energy also, before Union Power Minister R K Singh on 23rd July in presence of UP CM Yogi Adityanath. As per the proposal Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd will be unbundled in three small entities and through the bidding process all three entities will be privatised on licensee basis.
2.This decision was told by UPPCL Chairman to the delegation of Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP on 18th August 2020. Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP took the decision to oppose it and fight it out and decided to serve the notice to UP Govt and Management. Accordingly notice has been served on 24th August 2020.
3. In the first phase of agitation Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP has decided to hold Protest Meetings on every working Day in all Districts coming under Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. Protest Day Meetings are continuing and employees and engineers are protesting in a massive way.Central leaders of Samiti are on tour.Samiti has made it clear that by way of holding protest meetings Samiti will campaign against privatisation and tell the truth behind it to the consumers and common public.As per notice of Samiti this is a token protest and employees will ensure uninterrupted power supply during this token protest.
4. But UPPCL Management is all out for confrontation and spoiling the working atmosphere in UP Power Sector. Instead of holding any talks with Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP UPPCL Management served a letter to all 18 signatories of notice at their residence. Letter states that ESMA has been proclaimed which warrants for one year jail, National Disaster Act violation will lead to one year jail further may be extended for another two years and stringent punishment in Pandemic Act.Further UPPCL Chairman has written letter to ACS Home to take legal action against employees participating in protests as it has been banned by UPPCL.By all these actions it is clear that UP Bureaucracy and UPPCL Management is heading towards confrontation to fulfill their vested interests.
5. Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP is keeping a close watch on all the developments and will serve the notice for the second phase of agitation anytime after 09th September. Power Employees and Engineers are united in UP and have decided to resort to indefinite strike and Jail Bharo to stop privatisation as and when required. Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP seeks support of all power employees and engineers across the country in their coming struggle.
