On behalf of AIPEF Er A K Jain had sought information about the status of draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 and draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 on 08 February 2021. Information sought included current status of draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 , information about discard of  Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 , current status of draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021, link of website where draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 is uploaded, complete information of date of forwarding of draft Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 to Ministry of Law & Justice along with covering letter for their approval, draft copy of Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 as approved by  Ministry of Law & Justice and share any relevant information available regarding   Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021. Both copies are attached.

2. In reply on 16th Feb 2021 the Ministry of Power has stated that the revised  Electricity (Amendment) Bill is under finalisation. 

3. It is very strange that the Ministry of Power says on 16th Feb 2021 that  revised  Electricity (Amendment) Bill is under finalisation then question arises on which information  Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 has been listed in list of Bills in Lok Sabha Bulletin of Budget Session 2021.

4. The Ministry of Power has held two meetings on EA Bill 2021, one on 17th February with Additional Chief Secretary / Principal Secretary Energy of States/UT's along with CMD’s of State Power Corporations and other with Regulators of States / UT's on 02 March. Anyway we have to be cautious and be prepared for lightning action against any rush through of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 in Parliament.
