Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday made a fresh demand for cancellation of the power purchase agreements (PPAs) with private power companies, adding that the step could pave the way for Congress’s electoral win in the state.
He tweeted, “Faulty PPAs will be cancelled… Removing the burden of fixed charges from over the head of Punjab’s exchequer, Power will be given to the People of Punjab at 3 Rs per unit for Domestic use & 5 Rs per unit for Industrial use, along with an already provided over 10,000 Crore subsidy! (sic)”
Sidhu tweeted his speech at the public meeting of the Trade and Industrial Association in Amritsar, on Thursday evening where he is talking about the PPAs.
“I say this today that Rs 3 per unit power will be possible the day the faulty PPAs are cancelled. I vow that I will do it even if I have to risk my life against the PPAs. The party high command has given me this power to make sure that I fulfil the aspirations of the disillusioned people. I know the problem and I know the solution. I will bring out the facts
