Power engineers in Punjab and Haryana will join their counterparts from across the country in protesting at their respective power utility headquarters and generating stations against the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2021, on the first day of the winter session of Parliament. V K Gupta, spokesperson of All India Power Engineers Federation , said the real objective of the bill was to privatise electricity distribution under the pretext of giving consumers the choice to choose their distributor for cheaper and better service. Distribution will become the monopoly of a particular operator, said Gupta.
