PSPCL in tight spot as two thermal units with 870 MW capacity trip
YOGINDRA MOHAN / PATIALA The tripping of two thermal units, one unit each of Talwandi Sabo thermal and Ropar thermal has pushed the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) into a tight position of maintaining promised round-the-clock supply to the agriculture sector and no cuts in the power supply to domestic and industry sectors. The Talwandi Sabo unit tripped on hydrogen leakage in generator and the Ropar unit tripped on account of boiler leakage The 870 MW thermal generation loss on Sunday for likely three days poses a serious threat of power cuts on domestic and other consumers in the coming days. Today the power demand of the state is around 15300 MW as it is drawing 9850 MW from the northern grid. The PSPCLs own generation is around 5400 MW down by approximately 1000 MW.
