About 2000 engineers wore black badges and participated in protest rallies across the State in support of the farmers' agitation and against the proposed Electricity Amendment Bill 2020. 

“PSEB Engineers’ Association, a body of power engineers in Punjab with officers from Assistant Engineer to Engineer-in-Chief as its members, fully supports the struggle of farmers demanding the withdrawal of farming laws and Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020,” said Er. Jasvir Singh Dhiman, President of the PSEB Engineers’ Association.

 “The present move of the Central government to introduce and implement the farmers' laws is a part of the overall strategy of the government to introduce privatization at every step which is not in the larger interest of the country. Already, the central government has privatized the key activities in space, defense production, minerals and now electricity distribution companies / discoms are proposed to be privatized,” he added
