December 8, 2021: On the call of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees & Engineers ( NCCOEEE), power engineers and employees on Wednesday staged a nationwide protest against privatization policies of the central government and demanded that Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 be withdrawn, All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) spokesperson V.K. Gupta said.

Thousands of power sector employees and engineers held protest meetings in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand. Telangana, Tamilnadu, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Puducherry, and other states seeking withdrawal of Electricity Amendment Bill 2021, which has been listed for introduction in the winter session of Parliament.
