The All-India Power Engineers Power Federation (AIPEF) has congratulated power engineers for successful handling of power grid operations during 9-minute lights-off event.
VK Gupta, a spokesperson of the AIPEF, said that there was an unprecedented variation of 31089 MW at the national level which is about 27 percent of the total load and power engineers worked overtime to see that frequency and voltage was kept within limits and the power did not go out of control.
The national-level generation before 9 pm was 116887 MW which came down to 85799 MW.
In the northern region, the load crash was 9730 MW. The load fall in Punjab was 464 MW from 2995MW to 2531 MW during 15 minutes period.

In Haryana, a 507 MW load drop was observed. In UP load crash was 4384 MW as it came down from 13486 MW to 9102 MW.
Subsequently, the ramp-up was done very smoothly as demand and supply became normal afterwards.
Hydro generation across the country was minimized by 10.45 pm was again ramped up after the 9-minute event to meet the increase in demand.

The power engineers of the country have thereby managed the power system of country by operating within safe and secure limits with no outage or contingency.
