The Power Employees Coordination Committee of Power Development Department today decided to suspend pen down, tool down, lock down strike temporarily on the assurance of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma.
Official sources said that after emergency meeting called by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu in view of ensuing Diwali festival, who assured to take up the matter with the Chief Secretary and Commissioner Secretary, Power Development Department, the power employees suspended their agitation.
“In view of the ensuing Diwali Festival, the Power Employees Coordination Committee decided to heed to the assurance from the Divisional Commissioner as the deadlock would have caused inconvenience to the consumers during festivity. The PECC is hopeful that the demands raised by the employees would be addressed by the Government during this period and employees would not need to agitate again for the resolution of the same,” a PECC spokesman said.
Meanwhile, All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has urged upon the Governor Satya Pal Malik to shelve the proposal of unbundling of Power Development Department of State till the State Assembly is formed as electricity is a concurrent subject. In this connection a letter has also been written to the Governor, VK Gupta spokesman of AIPEF said.
