The power demand in Haryana on Tuesday exceeded 9,700 MW the first time this season, reveals the data obtained from the Northern Regional Load Despatch Centre website.
On Monday, the power supplied in the state was 1,977 lakh units with the maximum demand of 9,244 MW. The thermal units in the state supplied 515 lakh units. Yamunanagar thermal units supplied 122 lakh units, Khedar thermal units supplied 100 lakh units while two units of Panipat thermal supplied 77 lakh units. CLP thermal plant at Jhajjar supplied 216 lakh units.
All India Power Engineers’ Association spokesperson, V K Gupta said, “Initially, the demand did not show any increase due to weather vagaries last week. On Monday, there was maximum demand of 9,244 MW. The power demand in Haryana on Tuesday exceeded 9,700 MW first time after the start of paddy season on June 15.”
The power demand in Haryana is likely to touch 10,500 MW this year during the paddy season.
In the adjoining Punjab, power demand has remained steady between 11,000 MW and 12,000 MW and the state is supplying power between 2,500 to 2,600 lakh units every day.
The water level in Bhakra is 488.93 meters, which is 32 metres higher corresponding to the same day last year level of 456.50 metres. The coal stock at Yamunanagar thermal plant is sufficient for 11 days whereas Khedar and Panipat have 34 and 42 days stock.
