M S Dhiman honored for reducing AT&C losses

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Power Engineers have been able to reduce aggregate transmission and commercial (AT&C) losses to 20.29% for the period ending March 2018 and gap between actual cost of supply and actual revenue received per unit is mere 2 paisa per unit.

M S Dhiman now executive engineer Pehowa is one of such success stories and he has been given letter of appreciation by Shatrujit Singh CMD of Discoms on June 11 for bringing down the AT&C for bringing down to 13% for the Kaithal urban division.

Dhiman was able to bring down AT&C losses of Kaithal Division from 27.60 % to 12.41 % within a span of one year and detected power theft to the tune of Rs. 8.14 crore in a year which is the highest in both power Discoms UHBVN &DHBVN .He detected monthly power theft of more than Rs. one crore continuously for five months from May 2017 to September 2017. During July 2017 this amount touched Rs. 2 crore which was the highest monthly amount amongst both Discoms.

Even earlier the efforts of Dhiman yielded very impressive results for the year 2015-16 when he was SDO Pehowa when AT&C losses were brought down to 24% from the whopping 54% in the financial year 2015-16. He was then honored by Nitin Yadav then MD of UHBVN with cash award of Rs. 30000 and letter of appreciation. During this period he was also responsible for detecting power theft worth Rs. 3.5 crore. He busted a gang who was responsible for meter tempering of industrial units putting the UHBVN at a financial loss. 13 persons were involved in meter tempering and on their information raids were carried out at different industrial units and more than Rs. 1.5 crore power theft detected in the sub division.

Subsequently during his posting at Nilokheri in 2016-17he was responsible for bringing down the urban AT&C losses from 22.88% to 13%.
