Haryana Power Engineers Association (HPEA) today held its executive meeting at Panipat   presided over by President Rampal Singh in view of  work boycott call of January 8 in protest against privatization of power sector and decided to hold
daily gate meetings at circle level from December 30.

KK Malik General Secretary of the Association said that main demands of power engineers are to stop any move to amend Electricity Act 2003 to pave the path for segregation of carriage & content to privatize electricity supply, stop the move to introduce franchise system in power distribution  & reinstatement of terminated and reverted SDOs. & other pending demands of Engineers.
The Association has already served work boycott notice of January 8  on the management.

Er Rampal Singh President said that the engineers oppose the unilateral power policy of Government and engineers across the country will resort to work boycott on 08 January 2020. The Government must review the adverse impacts imposed upon electricity consumers and employees with implementation of Electricity Act, 2003  before moving ahead for any further amendments.

The amendments proposed by the center would be a big jolt for farmers and weaker sections as it would bring all subsidies to an end. The proposed changes are aimed at benefiting the big power companies. The motive of the proposed bill is to create a scope of business for private enterprises in power distribution without any investment. The power ministry set aside the objections raised by the states and electricity boards to favor private companies.
