JMER:AHEAD of imposition of the model code of conduct for free and fair elections, chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday announced free electricity for farmers in the rural areas. The chief minister made the announcement while addressing a meeting of booth workers and public at Kayad Vishramsthali. “With an objective to boost their income, I would like to announce that all farmers in rural areas will get free electricity till a certain limit. We have launched this from Friday,” Raje said. The sop came just before the central election commission announced the poll dates for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana. Raje said the BJP government had inherited a ramshackle electricity system which they improved by installing electricity lines, poles and transformers and spending ~40,000 crore. She outlined other works like reduction of VAT on fuel, Bhamashah scheme, Rajshri scheme for girls and road construction. |
