BBMB CHAIRMAN GETS EXTENSION TILL JULY 17, Mar 31, 2020

Devendra Kumar Sharma, Chairman of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), has been given extension in service up to July 17, when he attains the age of 60 years, by the Appointment Committee of the cabinet. The order was issued by the Power Ministry.

Earlier, Sharma was appointed Chairman for a period of three years and his term was up to April 20 this year.

DK Sharma has been associated with the power sector for over 30 years. Serving in the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board, he was instrumental in implementing and commissioning Tata Hydro Power Station in Bhutan.

He was also associated with the industrial giant Larsen & Toubro for a long time in its infrastructure development projects.

The selection process for new BBMB chairman was started on October 4 last year and October 31 was the last date for receipt of applications.

A total of about 18 candidates have applied for the post and selection committee is to shortlist two candidates.
