Residents of the affected areas had a sleepless night as the storm raged on, uprooting trees and damaging boundary walls, vehicles, and electricity poles.
The power outage left more than half of Zirakpur, Mohali, Kharar, and Nayagaon without electricity. According to Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials, the power supply to several areas in Zirakpur, including Bhabat, Lohgarh, VIP Road, Balaji Enclave, Guru Nanak Nagar, Abhepur, Chhat village, Singhpura, and other areas under the Bhabta and Rampur Budda substations, is expected to remain disrupted for over 24 hours.
In Mohali, many sectors faced power failure for hours, while in Nayagaon, the power outage lasted for 14 hours.
