The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) working in power utilities of various states in the country has shot a letter to Punjab Power Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, claiming to proceed on two-day strike.
The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers has opposed the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2018, in its present form and suggested certain changes in the draft bill, but the Central government has not considered the same and is unilaterally resorting to amend the Electricity Act, 2003, thereby pushing the sector undertakings into further financial crisis and the common people to face the burden of higher tariff together with snatching of the powers of state governments. According to a release, the NCCOEEE executive decided to support the two-day all-India strike / work boycott
call given by the Central Trade Unions on January 8 and 9, 2019, to safeguard the interest of public sector undertakings, consumers and employees of power sector.
